Fall!

Get Ready for Fall with 
Spook-tacular Books!!

Who is ready for Fall?! I know I am! I don't know about you, but I like to read spooky books and watch spooky movies in the Fall! There is just something about the chill in the air, leaves falling, Halloween candy in the stores, Fall scented candles, hot beverages, and Fall decorations that always puts me in the best spooky mood! Does anyone else watch the movie Hocus Pocus on a loop starting at the end of August? Or is that just me? 

The Library has a LOT of spooky books and movies for you to pick from for all ages!! Some thrillers, some just for fun Fall reads. Take your pick!



Children's Books

Goodnight Goon by Michael Rex
A young monster says goodnight to all of the other monsters in his bedroom.


Jeepers Creepers: a monsterous ABC by Laura Leuck
Twenty-six monsters go to school and learn their letters as each one's name starts with another letter of the alphabet

The Teeny Tiny Ghost and the Monster by Kay Winters
All the ghosts in the teeny tiny class are excited about the Make a Monster contest -- all the ghosts, that is, except one. The teeny tiny ghost isn't excited at all; he's scared.



A Very Brave Witch by Alison McGhee
One Halloween, a witch decides she'd like to see what trick-or-treating is all about. When she makes a friend, trick-or-treating doesn't seem too bad after all. 


We're Off to Find the Witch's House by Richard Kries

A little girl visits a farm and picks the reddest apples from the trees and finds the best pumpkin in the patch in this classic picture book.


It's Raining Bats & Frogs by Rebecca Colby
A little witch named Delia has been looking forward all year to flying in the annual Witch Parade. When the rumors of rain come true and the other witches start complaining, Delia takes action. Using her best magic, Delia changes the rain to cats and dogs. At first this goes over quite well, but she quickly realizes the animals cause a few issues.


Room on the Broom

A witch finds room on her broom for all the animals that ask for a ride, and they repay her kindness by rescuing her from a dragon.


Awesome Autumn

The Library in the time of COVID-19

The Library is here for YOU!!


Welcome to the Kendall Young Library Blog!

So many changes are happening in this world lately, with COVID-19 closing businesses, cancelling vacations, keeping you apart from your friends and family, making going back to school stressful, and just down right making life difficult. But we just want you to know that the Library is still here and we are still catering to your needs the best we can! You don't have to stay at home with nothing to read or watch, we got you covered! We have resources that you can access from home, and there are still ways for you to come inside the Library to get materials. We even have Virtual programming planned and Take & Make Craft Bags for all ages! Here's what you need to know: 

Current Library Guidelines:
  • The Library is open to 15 people at a time for specific 30 minute time slot appointments.
  • We are still doing curbside appointments for those of you who would rather not come inside. 
  • We have a limited number of computers open upstairs and downstairs. Computer appointment are also 30 minutes - please state that you would like a computer when you call to make your appointment.
  • Children 11 years and younger must be accompanied by a parent or guardian during an appointment time. 
  • Face masks are required when entering the building - children under the age of 2 do not need to wear a face mask.
  • Hand sanitizing is required when entering the building - there is a hand sanitizing station by the front doors as you come in the building. 
Current Hours:
Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday: 10:00am-5:30pm
Tuesdays: 10:00am-7:00pm

No Face-to-Face programming this Fall:
We are sad to announce that we are not doing face-to-face programming this Fall when school starts. We missed you all at our Summer Reading Programs this year, but we are working on planning more fun Virtual programs and Take & Make Crafts for all ages! Make sure to keep checking our Facebook page, our Website, the radio, and newspapers for information on programming and any changes in the Library Guidelines that may occur! 

Sidewalk Fun!
Need to get out of the house? Stop by and check out our Sidewalk Obstacle Course that runs the length of the ENTIRE sidewalk to the South of the Library! Follow all the steps, hop, spin, sidestep, and run all the way to the end! Make sure to look to your left while you are doing it to Guess the Silhouette of the Book Characters in the lower Library windows!
