The Library in the time of COVID-19

The Library is here for YOU!!

Welcome to the Kendall Young Library Blog!

So many changes are happening in this world lately, with COVID-19 closing businesses, cancelling vacations, keeping you apart from your friends and family, making going back to school stressful, and just down right making life difficult. But we just want you to know that the Library is still here and we are still catering to your needs the best we can! You don't have to stay at home with nothing to read or watch, we got you covered! We have resources that you can access from home, and there are still ways for you to come inside the Library to get materials. We even have Virtual programming planned and Take & Make Craft Bags for all ages! Here's what you need to know:

Current Library Guidelines:
  • The Library is open to 15 people at a time for specific 30 minute time slot appointments.
  • We are still doing curbside appointments for those of you who would rather not come inside.
  • We have a limited number of computers open upstairs and downstairs. Computer appointment are also 30 minutes - please state that you would like a computer when you call to make your appointment.
  • Children 11 years and younger must be accompanied by a parent or guardian during an appointment time.
  • Face masks are required when entering the building - children under the age of 2 do not need to wear a face mask.
  • Hand sanitizing is required when entering the building - there is a hand sanitizing station by the front doors as you come in the building.
Current Hours:
Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday: 10:00am-5:30pm
Tuesdays: 10:00am-7:00pm

No Face-to-Face programming this Fall:
We are sad to announce that we are not doing face-to-face programming this Fall when school starts. We missed you all at our Summer Reading Programs this year, but we are working on planning more fun Virtual programs and Take & Make Crafts for all ages! Make sure to keep checking our Facebook page, our Website, the radio, and newspapers for information on programming and any changes in the Library Guidelines that may occur!

Sidewalk Fun!
Need to get out of the house? Stop by and check out our Sidewalk Obstacle Course that runs the length of the ENTIRE sidewalk to the South of the Library! Follow all the steps, hop, spin, sidestep, and run all the way to the end! Make sure to look to your left while you are doing it to Guess the Silhouette of the Book Characters in the lower Library windows! Thank you to Teri Cornett for being so creative and making this happen!
